José Tiburcio Manuel Aguirre: 1799
José Tiburcio Manuel Aguirre, great maternal grandfather of Jesus María Tarriba Echavarría (1890-1944), was born about 1799 in Concordia, Sinaloa, Mexico. About 1830 he married MARÍA IGNACIA ANTONIA DE JESUS ROCHIN CASTAÑEDA, in Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico. Ma. Ignacia was born in 1803 in Santa Cruz de Ayala, Cosala, Sinaloa, daughter of PEDRO IGNACIO ROCHIN: 1774–1834 and MARIA DE JESUS CASTAÑEDA 1782–1834, and who was also related to the Tarriba family, being first cousin of Feliciana Castañeda Beltran de Tarriba (1823-1888). Further, one of Don José's sons, Francisco, would marry his cousin, Soledad Tarriba Castañeda.
After their marriage José Tiburcio and María Ignacia took up residence in Culiacán, Sinaloa, where their first two children were born. The couple then returned to Maria Ignacia's hometown of Cosalá, where they had another three children. Finally, about 1838, the family established themselves in Bacubirito, Sinaloa in a house on the Calle de la Carcel. (see Bacubirito sketch).
Before his death, Don José Aguirre took his eldest son Tiburcio to one side and showed him a store cupboard, within the adobe walls of the home, where he had several glazed earthenware jugs which were full of gold and silver coins. Don José instructed his son, that upon his death, he should share the ´treasure´ amongst his siblings. Apart from the coins, he also left plot of land with a house and several buildings, known as 'La Haciendita', which was situated some 28 kilometers from Bacubirito. Here in La Hacienda Don José Aguirre grew sugar cane, and in the small wooden sugar mill situated there, made unrefined brown sugar and candied peanut bars.
