Originating from Cosalá with Francisco Avendaño (1800-), the Avendaño's were related only by marriage to the Tarriba and Beltrán families, but they were very close. In the mid-1870s, Doña María Laura Avendaño (1830-1899), who appears to have had four children out of wedlock, moved with her children to Bacubirito, Sinaloa, and in 1888 her son Andrés married Beatriz Tarriba Beltran , daughter of Jesús María José Joaquín Tarriba Castañeda (1842–1888) and Paulina Beltran 1839–, and sister of Miguel Tarriba Beltran. It is possible that Andrés and Beatriz were distant cousins, both descendants of Francisco Avendaño and Gertrudis Beltrán, although we still have nothing to prove this theory. Andrés was in various associations with his brothers-in-law, Miguel and Antonio Tarriba.

TARRIBA ANCESTORS / TARRIBA CASTAÑEDA FAMILY / TARRIBA BELTRAN FAMILY / TARRIBA ECHAVARRÍA FAMILY / TARRIBA RODIL FAMILY
According to the family, the Tarriba family is originally from a small town, of the same name, Tarriba, in San Felices de Buelna, Cantabria, Spain. However, the 'Institute of Heraldry of Rome', states that the surname is originally from Asturias, Spain (about 350 km from San Felices de Buelna) and they were noble. However, we have not been able to find any document that proves it. Our first known ancestor was Felipe Tarriba, born around 1765 in Spain, who married Juana Cencial. His son, José María Tarriba Cencial, who arrived in Mexico in the early 1820s claims that he is from Cádiz, Spain, but that it could be here where he lived before embarking for Mexico. All the Tarriba families in Mexico are descendants of José María. There are many families in Colombia with the same last name, but we have not found a connection yet. After arriving in Mexico, José María spends a few years in Mexico City and then travels north to Cosalá, Sinaloa, where he invests in mining with Cosalá's prominent family, the Yriartes. The family remains in Sinaloa for the next 130 years, living in Cosalá, Bacubirito, Sinaloa Leyva, Culiacán, and Mazatlán. The maternal lines of the Tarriba family include the surnames: Cencial, Castañeda, Beltrán, Echavarría.

UNGER ANCESTORS / UNGER WURM FAMILY / UNGER GLADE FAMILY / UNGER FERREIRA FAMILY / CARTAS DEL ABUELO / CARTAS DE IVERSHEIM (de Carlos Ernesto Unger Ferreira)
The surname Unger is associated with an ancient tribe from the Roman era called the Markomannen. These people emigrated from their homeland in the north-central region to what is now the Czech Republic (formerly Bohemia); from there, many of the Marcomanni migrated to southeastern Germany and established what is now known as the Bavarian Germans. When the Huns invaded the Roman Empire in the late 300s, early 400s, many Germanic tribes were conquered or allied with the Huns and the surname derives from this period. Its original form was "Hunnengewehr", which in German means auxiliary or weapon of the Huns. Over time, the name was changed from Hunnengewehr to Ungerrer and eventually to Unger and Ungar, that is, someone from Hungary. The Unger bearers would later emerge as an influential noble family, with many distinguished branches, and would be noted for their involvement in social, economic, and political affairs.
The maternal lines of the Unger family include the surnames: Ferreira, Glade, Wurm, Unger, Petri, Topfern, Schopfel & Schopf.

The earliest ancestors of the Winter family were from Stade, Niedersachsen, Germany. Stade, officially known as the Hanseatic city of Stade, is a city in Lower Saxony in northern Germany. First mentioned in the records in 934, it is the district headquarters (Landkreis) named after him. It is located approximately 28 miles west of Hamburg and belongs to the wider metropolitan region of that city and approximately 50 miles from Bremen. The data I have comes from a hand-drawn family tree chart by Paul Isenberg and Wobetha Glade made in 1929 and passed to me by Paul and Beta's great-grandson. This gives the names and dates up to Jost Winter born in 1736 and Gesche Dethers. From other family trees on ancestry.com I have been able to provide more details, but most of the information comes from Hawaiian newspapers online, as many family members sailed to Hawaii in the mid-1800s and were very well known in Hawaii's social and business societies.
