On June 21, 1868 Don Ramón's son José María appeared before the local magistrate to declare that his father, Don Ramón Menchaca had died on the third of June, at 4 o'clock in the afternoon, in the first block of the City of pneumonia. It was claimed that he was 64 years old upon his death, but given other writings, he would have been 80 years old.
On December 10, 1892 the widow, Doña María Martiarena de Menchaca wrote her last will and testament, making her sons Agustin and José María first and second executors.
To her son Juan she leaves a plot of land called 'Los Llanitos', and a property plus three houses on Zacatecas Street and a house in Tepic.
To her son Fernando she leaves the ranch ‘El Isidreño’
To her son Agustin she leaves her stage coach company, plus her own personal carriage, an orchard, a plot of land with an orchard and the land on the corner of Hidalgo and Zacatecas.
To her sons Juan and Agustin she leaves her home on the street Mexico in Tepic, plus all the furniture and objects, which she begs her sons to carefully conserve and maintain the conditions of which they are as present.
She makes a note that since her sons José Maria and Enrique are economically well established she believes it only fair to leave all her goods to the sons who are not so financially well, since she loves all of her sons the same.
To her granddaughter Maria Menchaca Manjarrez she leaves two houses in Tepic and to her granddaughter Carmen Menchaca Hidalgo she leaves the property situated on the corner of the streets Mexico and Zaragoza.
