Münden and his brother Johann Wilhelm Unger was secretary of law under the ministers Gerlach Adolph of Munchausen and his brother Philip Adolph of Munchausen (1694-1762).
Unger studied law in the University of Jena, Thuringa for two years before becoming a lawyer in Hanover. For several years after 1738 he worked as a lawyer in Moringen a small town in the district of Northeim in Lower Saxony.
