Padilla Navarro Family
Coronel Francisco Padilla Figueroa 1797-1880 & Ma. Inés del Rosario Navarro Castro
Francisco Padilla Figueroa was born about 1797 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, son of José Rafael Padilla Y León and María Josefa Justa Figueroa. He was baptized on May 15, 1797 at Sagrario Metropolitano, Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.
Francisco entered the military and most likely was posted in Baja California, where he married Ma. Inés del Rosario Navarro Castro 1828–1892, the tenth child of Antonio Navarro and Josefa Castro.
Francisco and María Inés moved around a lot, probably due to his military position. Their first son, Gregorio was born in Durango, their second daughter in La Paz, they then moved to Mexico City where they remained until their deaths. Francisco died in Mexico City on July 17, 1880 and his wife Ma. Ines died 12 years later on April 27, 1892, also in México City.
Francisco and María Inés had 6 children.

Gregorio Felix Padilla Navarro was born on November 17, 1845 in the city of Durango, Durango and was baptized on November 19, 1845 at the church, El Sagrario Metropolitano, Victoria de Durango, Durango, Mexico. His father at the time was the Military Commander in Durango. His godparents were Don Alejo Garcia Conde and Doña Teodacia Montoya.
On November 20, 1870, La Paz, Baja California, he is called as a witness at the marriage of his cousin Manuel Matias Hidalgo Navarro to María Elena Savin Cota 1855–1884. He is described as a merchant of 26 years and 1st cousin of the groom. A few years later in 1876, he would marry the sister of Elena, Victoria Hortensia Savin Cota 1853-1941, daughter of Adolfo Savin Aumodrie 1824–1890 and Guadalupe Cota Leon 1823–1901.
Gregorio was involved in mining, commercial trading, and in the pearl fishing industry along with his uncle Manuel Navarro Castro and his cousins, Daniel, Juan, and Manuel Hidalgo Navarro.
Between the years 1877 and 1886, Gregorio and Victoria had 8 children, 4 boys and four girls. The only death found for Don Gregorio, is one for a Gregorio Padiña in La Paz in 1887, which is after the birth of his son José Gregorio in 1886. The gap in years between Gregorio's birth in 1886 and Henry's in 1895 is too large to be reasonable and I believe that Gregorio died in 1887 and that Henry was adopted later by Victoria.
